couple seafood lunch on boat coron palawan

Heading to Coron anytime soon? If you’re a foodie like me who wants to try all the yummy restaurants and loves to eat two dinners in one night, here’s a short list of the best places to eat in Coron, Palawan. Trying different restaurants in a new place is also an adventure for me. Like it doesn’t stop at island hopping or city tours. Whenever I travel, I make sure to try the highest rated restaurant in town right after landing and work my way from there to discovering some hidden gems recommended by the locals. I must admit, food sometimes gets the biggest chunk of my travel fund so I make sure to spend it somewhere that’ll make me and my tummy happy. Here’s a list of our favorite eats in Coron. Enjoy!!

Lobster King best restaurant in Coron Palawan

1. Lobster King

We went straight here after dropping our luggage at the hotel. We were craving for lobster and Lobster King didn’t disappoint. This restaurant has been recommended so many times by my fellow travel bloggers and I couldn’t wait to try it myself. We were the only guests during lunch time so we initially thought that the place was closed. The restaurant usually opens at 10:00am. The staff informed us that we’ll be needing to wait for around 20 minutes since the freshly caught lobster was still on its way. No problem! We first had the classic calamari for appetizer, also ordered some sizzling gambas together with the butter and garlic lobster paired with a cup of white rice. So yummy and filling!! I couldn’t think of a better meal to officially start our island trip.

Lolo Nonoy's budget restaurants in coron

2. Lolo Nonoy’s

The most recommended restaurant by the locals. And by locals, I’m talking about hotel staff and tricyle drivers that we met while in Coron. At Lolo Nonoy’s, you can choose from the ready to eat food displayed beside the cashier but I don’t really recommend it since you wouldn’t know if the food on display was freshly cooked or have been there for a few hours already. But if budget is your priority, go for the food on display. If you’re the type of person who prefers freshly cooked meal, you can opt to order from the menu. That’s what we did. We had blue marlin steak for dinner which was INCREDIBLY delicious (I highly recommend it. Seriously. No drama.) and the super yummy tuna sisig! Love, love, love. I usually eat only a half cup of rice and my boyfriend usually eats the other half. Not this time! He had to order his own extra rice.

3. Viewdeck Grill House

Viedeck Grill House is one of the modern restaurants in Coron Town. It is located on a rooftop with ample lighting, giving guests a really laidback vibe. Couple that with their well curated sinful menu and wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Viewdeck serves comfort food such as pasta, burgers, and all the other good stuff you’re always craving, for a reasonable price. I have to mention their excellent customer service too! It’s the perfect spot for anyone looking for a place to let the time pass before going back to the hotel.

4. Island Lunch by Boat Crew

You cannot miss this. You just can’t. Our boat crew wore different hats during our tour. They were excellent tour guides and we learned interesting things about Coron, the Culion islands, its people and what everything looks like back in the days. They also make a good company and Bry and I never felt bored during our trip. It seemed like we were just hanging out with some old friends. Lastly, I don’t know about this. But of all the restaurants we’ve tried in Coron, the meals cooked by our boat crew was the most memorable by far. I don’t know if it’s because of the setting…We had lunch on our boat while docked in the middle of the sea with turquoise crystal clear water surrounding us and the magnificent limestone cliff for a view…or was I just hungry? Anyway, they served us grilled tuna, butter and garlic shrimps (oh my goodness), and oh so bright yellow sweet mangoes!! This was the closest thing I had to Cloud 9.

5. Levine’s Restaurant

Levine’s can easily be located because if its iconic sign – a large red smoking pot. The restaurant is located on a rooftop as well and can only accommodate a number of guests. The menu was affordable and delicious. We had sweet and sour fish and buffalo wings. The only downside was the place was too dark for us (the reason why I don’t have a photo to show). I could barely see the fish we were eating, not to mention it was not fillet. lol. But it was good! Then came the power outage. We were eating with one slim candle stick in the middle of our table that served as light. Too romantic, I guess?

6. La Sirenetta BAR & RESTAURANT

Ahhh..La Sirenetta..my favorite sunset spot in Coron. La Sirenetta is located at the end of the reef alongside where boats dock, giving guests full view of Coron Bay. We had their delicous pizza and it was served huge! Paired with a bottle of beer all while watching the sunset. The place had a laidback and romantic vibe which makes it a perfect stop for couples looking to relax and slow down after an overwhelming day that consist of non-stop island hopping.

7. Pedro’s Gelato

Located in Coron Town is this small gelato parlor. Probably the only specialty store that serves delicious gelato. We sat at their high table outside while eating our gelato and while watching people pass by. Simple experiencees like this definitely counts!

8. Hunt’s Restaurant/Pride Deck Bar by The Funny Lion

During our first day in Coron, we spent the whole day trying to maximize our stay at The Funny Lion Hotel since there were no island tours available that could start at 11AM. All boats have already left the town by 9AM. We initially spent the day lounging at the main pool. Then moved to Pride Rock Deck Bar in the afternoon to sip some cocktails while enjoying their jacuzzi. The Pride Rock Deck Bar is located on the rooftop of our hotel, giving guests a magnificent sunset view in Coron Bay. We tried their Margarita Pizza and Safari cocktails while waiting for the sunset. Hunt’s Restaurant, the hotel’s main restaurant serves excellent food too! Their breakfast had a wide range of selections from pastries, to your everyday cereals, plus my favorite – egg station! and lot more. Tip: get a table beside the pool to get the jungle vibe experience at the funny lion hotel.

All restaurants mentioned above are reachable via tricycle for around Php10 per person per ride. Most of them are located within Coron town. Thus, restaurants are also walking distance if you’re staying in the center. These are just some of the restaurants we got to try during our four day trip in Coron, Palawan. The food and night scene in Coron is still quiet unlike in other beach paradise like Boracay or Cebu. Fast food establishments are also not allowed to enter the market in Coron. I hope this kind of governance remains until forever in order to protect and support the livelihood of the locals.
